![]() The postcard is from 1.4.1871, and was for many years known as “letter card” Until 1.10.1888, the rate of postcard was the same as for letters.
In the early years the postal card was used in business matter, ex. purchasing of goods, regards from wholesalers etc. Also the postcard “letter card” was used as dispatch note for packing shipments. After the postal rate was reduced in 1888, the postcard “letter card” was used for minor personal letters.
At the change of century a production of postcards with city views and others motives was started.
The big boom for postcards was i 1904, when the Christmas stamp was introduced.
