The Golden chantarelle (Cantharellus cibarius) Songs to the group of fleshy fungi (Basidiomycetes) of which some are called 'cap-less' mushrooms.
Both are popular as good eating mushrooms which grow in or around woodlands and then in clusters at the edge of trails.
Golden chantarelles are not common in lceland, but are though, found in some locations.
The Shaggy Mane (Coprinus comatus) is a common mushroom in residential areas, found widely in settlements and along roadsides.
It grows in clusters and they are often found in various stages of maturity. It is a tasty mushroom. but one which cannot be kept fresh. except for a few hours, and one of a very few lcelandic mushrooms which may be eaten raw.
In lcelandic the mushroom is known by the names. 'Ullserkur' and 'Ullblekill.
